As of August 2011, my website is back up and fully redesigned. Now you can access information for all of my pieces, performances, and other items of interest.
Current projects include a really exciting collaboration between playwright Doris Baizley, the electronic music duo MLuM (Marco Schindelmann and Michael Raco-Rands), and myself. We are creating an electro-acoustic opera based on Baizley's incredible play, Sexsting, for electronic sound, cello, musical saw, and two singers. Based on elements of reality, the libretto centers on the on-line fantasy relationship between a middle-aged man and an FBI investigator pretending to be a teenage girl. We had a wonderful experience at the University of Southern California last October; we performed parts of the work in-progress with a live performance by a troupe of talented actors. I'm really excited about this project-- great collaborators and a very, very strong libretto.
I am also working on a new piece for the University of Redlands Madrigals singers (led by friend and colleague Nicholle Andrews), and a new violin piece for the inimitable Jeanne Skrocki (currently Artist Professor of Violin at the University of Redlands and Assistant Concertmaster for the Pacific Symphony).
In 2010, Centaur Records released a CD entitled Hymns to Forgotten Moons: The Music of Arnold Schoenberg and Anthony Suter, which features recordings of two of my works by University of Redlands faculty.
I was very humbled to be honored by my University of Redlands faculty colleagues in the 2009 - 2010 academic year with an Award for Innovative Teaching; truly, to be around such a wonderful faculty and student body on a daily basis is very, very good inspiration for teaching.
